Why We Built Rinkville
By Commissioner Kari
If you’ve found your way to Rinkville, welcome.
Pull up a chair. Grab a coffee. Or maybe a fountain soda that’s been sitting in your cup holder since the first game this morning. Around here, we don’t judge.
Because if you’re a hockey family, you already get it.
You know the sound of skate guards clacking across the lobby floor. You know the feeling of walking into a freezing rink before the sun has even decided to wake up. You know that a simple “We’ll just try hockey” somehow turns into calendars full of practices, weekends spent at tournaments, and friendships that feel more like family.
That’s where Rinkville began.
Not in a boardroom.
Not with a business plan.
It started in the stands.
It started while cheering for my kids, packing bags that never seemed to stay organized, surviving on coffee, and laughing with other parents who somehow understood exactly what this wonderfully chaotic life looked like.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something.
There are plenty of places to buy hockey gear.
There are plenty of places to buy hockey shirts.
But there weren’t many places that truly celebrated everything that happens between the games.
The early mornings.
The car rides.
The forgotten water bottles.
The lucky socks.
The tournament weekends.
The goalie parents who age ten years during every breakaway.
The siblings doing homework in the lobby.
The volunteers.
The coaches.
The team managers.
The grandparents in the stands.
The families who somehow make this whole crazy world work.
That’s the heart of Rinkville.
This isn’t just an online store.
It’s a hometown for hockey families.
A place where you can laugh because someone else has lived the exact same moment. A place where planning tools make life a little easier. A place where apparel tells the stories only hockey people understand. A place where every article, every design, and every idea is created by someone who has been there too.
Launching this website has been a dream that’s taken countless hours, late nights, and more cups of coffee than I could ever count.
There were moments when it felt overwhelming.
Moments when I wondered if I’d ever make it to launch day.
But every time I thought about giving up, I thought about the families sitting beside me in the rink.
I thought about the conversations in the lobby.
The laughter in the bleachers.
The lifelong friendships that started because our kids happened to end up on the same team.
Those moments reminded me why this matters.
My hope is simple.
I hope you find something here that makes you smile.
I hope you find something that makes your hockey life a little easier.
I hope you find yourself saying, “That’s exactly us.”
Most of all, I hope Rinkville becomes a place you enjoy visiting, whether you’re looking for a new shirt, a printable to keep life organized, a laugh after a long tournament weekend, or simply a reminder that you’re part of a community that understands.
This town was built for every hockey family.
The seasoned veterans.
The first-year parents.
The figure skaters who wandered over.
The goalie families.
The travel teams.
The house league heroes.
The volunteers who quietly keep everything moving.
Everyone has a place here.
So, from the bottom of my heart…
Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you for believing in this dream.
And thank you for helping make Rinkville feel like home before the doors have even officially opened.
Welcome to town.
We’re so glad you’re here.
See you at the rink,
Commissioner Kari
